Cisco Cloud Security

97% of organizations now run data-intensive workloads on Kubernetes, leveraging AI/ML, analytics, and databases. This shift introduces challenges around application reliability, observability, and, most critically, security—especially as Kubernetes clusters often lack the consistent network security controls found in traditional data centers.

This hands-on, four-hour lab explores the essentials of Kubernetes networking and cloud-native connectivity. Participants will learn about core concepts such as pod networking, CNI, IPAM, Kubernetes services, ingress, and network policies, gaining practical insights into seamless distributed communication.

The lab goes beyond the basics, highlighting advanced topics like encryption and the integration of Kubernetes with legacy systems (e.g., BGP and egress gateways) to meet diverse infrastructure needs. It also covers how eBPF technology enhances scalability, security, and performance in modern environments.

A special focus is placed on Security Observability, a new paradigm enabled by eBPF and tools like Cilium Tetragon, which provides real-time visibility and runtime enforcement for Kubernetes environments. Participants will gain hands-on experience with security features such as network observability, network policies, transparent encryption, mutual authentication, and runtime security with Tetragon.

Upon successful completion of this workshop (and the bonus lab) you will receive these validated Credly badges.
